2017 SVCC Men’s Road Race Team

A message from Nic Meadows…

The origins of SVCC are steeped in bike racing but in more recent times there has been a lot less focus on it. There are a number of people who have expressed an interest in racing, but it can be very daunting turning up to race on your own, not knowing what to expect and with no support. So to help and encourage people for the 2017 season we are going to be a bit more organised and attempt to run a small race team.

We are looking for around 8 people (or more!) so that we can field a team of 4-6 people at each race targeting specifically the Castle Combe Summer Race series (Thursday Evenings) and/or the Odd Down Summer Race Series (Tuesday Evenings or Saturday afternoons) in 2017. No previous race experience necessary. However, we are looking for a commitment to do the winter training and be part of the team to help support each other.

There will be a meeting in October for any persons interested, so that we can discuss the expectations and the winter training program. Hopefully we’ll be racing in the new SVCC kit as well.

Commitment required:

  • Regular Winter training
  • A couple of Odd Down Winter series races to see what its really like and how the team works.
  • Most Tuesday or Thursday Evenings from May through July.
  • British Cycling Silver/Gold membership with provisional race licence or a full BC race licence.

Interested? Please email Nic Meadows.
