This is a fast paced “non-drop” group ride. You should be comfortable and confident riding in a close proximity group at speed. We ride as group for most of the ride. We try to stay together on the hills; however, if the group fragments, we regroup after the summit. There are also times when we ride through and off, especially if there is a head wind. This slowly rotates the riders which lead the group, and spreads the effort between the group.
The rides take in a coffee and cake stop, this is usually little over halfway through the route. The routes are posted in advance to the SVCC website. Whilst we try to follow the proposed routes, sometimes we deviate from them. If you are intending on joining us en route, please contact us in advance so we can ensure we don’t miss you.
If you do get dropped from the group try and let one of the other riders know; otherwise keep riding on the same road: the rest of the group will wait at the next turn so that you’re not left behind.
If you want to turn back early, please let the ride leader or one of the other riders know, so that we’re not out looking for you.
Bring what you need: tubes, pump, tools, snacks, fluids and money for coffee and cake. If you have a mechanical issue or need to stop, please let the ride leader know or get one of the other riders to let them know. If you have a problem then someone or the whole group will stay with you to resolve it. Please adhere to the highway code at ALL times and be considerate to other road users.
The Sunday club runs are NOT competitive. If that’s what you are looking for, please talk to us about racing at the Odd Down Circuit or competing in the Club Time Trials.
