No Formal Rides

Cycling during lockdown

“British Cycling have updated their guidelines in response to the Governments Roadmap. In essence following discussions with government agencies Club rides for BC affiliated Clubs, such as ourselves, have been categorised as outside sport and therefore it is possible for larger groups to ride earlier than in our Roadmap shared recently with members. However, this is dependant on strict COVID protocols not least formally led rides with ride leaders etc. BC also acknowledge there are still many questions they are seeking clarification on from government. Given our recent more flexible approach to ride leaders we have decided to remain with our more cautious Roadmap for a full return to normal club activities. All dates are of course subject to change.

Here is our Roadmap again

Stage 1, 29th March; recommence informal, self organised group rides of up to six, but maintaining social distancing protocols and no social stops permitted. Separately, Cycling Time Trials have advised that Type A and Type B events can recommence.

Stage 2, 12th April; informal, self organised groups of up to six can incorporate an outdoors only coffee stop.

Stage 3, 17th May; informal, self organised groups of more than six (but no more than thirty) can commence. A group of up to six can enjoy a coffee stop indoors.

Stage 4, 21st June; recommence formal Club Rides and activities”
