The Somer Valley round of the WTTA Hardriders series saw 32 starters
gather at the HQ in Doulting on a lovely warm morning. Conditions were
perfect with bright sunshine and low winds and were a complete contrast
to the cold wet day last years event experienced.
31 of the 32 starters completed the course, the unlucky one being Paul
Chapman of Severn RC who punctured before the start, had time for a
repair, and then punctured again  40 yards after starting!
The weather conditions produced a brace of PB's as well as a course record.
Jeff Jones of Chippenham & District Wheelers produced an outstanding
time of 1:05:31 - a new course record which won him both the first prize
and an additional £25. Only 7 secs behind  was second placed Gavin
Poupart of Echelon Spiuk with a time of 1:05:38 which also broke the
previous course record. Chris Madge of Severn RC was third and his time
of 1:07:01 included  a wrong turn at one of the roundabouts so who knows
what he may have done if he had kept on course!
First lady was Ann Wooldridge of Gloucester City CC in 1:27:26, but its
worth bearing in mind that she was riding a bike with mudguards and a rack!
Team prize went to Chippenham Wheelers ( Jeff Jones, Rob Richardson and
Simon Snowden)

A successful event with no problems but we need more riders to make it
viable so please support the event next year by riding.
